Graham Timbrell is part of the 'wave' of UK east coast Electronica composers, who include the pioneering Brian Eno.
But Timbrell, self taught, never set out to be part of any musical movement.He fell in love with the sound of the synth, and worked long hours to create a distinctive sound in the booming New Age genre.
My favourite track is 'Gentle Waves'. It has that Stephen Halpern meditative quality. I love relaxing to it....you can feel the waves lapping over you. Music with soft atmospherics.
By contrast, 'The Journey' has the epic sound of Vangelis, ie, the Greek composer's music for the big screen movie,'Alexander'.
Timbrell masterfully works in a wistful Eastern 'pan-pipe' effect in the haunting 'Beautiful Sad Chinese Girl'. An admirer of Kitaro, the British composer creates a catchy melodic soundscape in 'Fantastic World'.
