For its first appearance at the Salzburg Festival, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra brought great sensitivity to Mozart. The drama inherent in both of the G minor symphonies was fully explored by Wolfgang Sawallisch, while that gifted Mozartian, Friedrich Gulda, ensured that the E flat major Piano Concerto was a feast of fascinating, raptly otherworldly music-making.
