Handpicked by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of their best 25 bands on MySpace, Shannon Hurley found an experimental way to cross genres: Hold a search for the best remixes of songs from her full-length debut "Ready to Wake Up".

After announcing the contest on Acidplanet.com and ccmixter.org, Shannon received over 400 versions of her songs. From trance to down-tempo to straight up heavy rock, many styles are represented in the remixes which were submitted by people all over the world. The songs that Shannon ultimately chose for "Second Light: The Ready to Wake Up Remixes" have a unique character. They are all delivered with respect to the original songs but add a bold new twist in one way or another.
