TinGods sole musical offering, “Laughing Under Duress” is the mutant stepchild of engineer / producer / songwriter / vocalist Gordon Davies (wait…he can sing?) and songwriter / producer / guitarist Steve Messina (wait…he plays electric???). They have been the best of friends and musical partners in crime for the last 30 years, and for this project they were joined by a cast of friends who just happened to be some of the finest session musicians in NYC, and therefore anywhere. The music itself is difficult to describe; on the surface it’s rock, only more intricate…but not quite intricate enough as to truly be called Prog. Conventional song structure is sometimes eschewed. Strange tunings are often employed. It has energy and introspection, shadow and light in abundance. It has true dynamics.
