Demons and Angels
"Demons and Angels," Sydney-based band Daktari's second full-length CD, contains lyrical references and samples that allude to the current state of political chaos in the world, but presents from a personal perspective. It is the follow-up to Daktari’s debut album "My Pet Goat" released in 2005 and named after the book George Bush was reading to schoolchildren when informed of the 9/11 attacks.
Daktari started as a recording project with the shared vision of producing quality song-oriented tracks underpinned by groove-based reggae dub. Fusing musical elements acquired from their collective experience in bands over the last 20+ years with the less structured dub and roots styles pioneered by artists and producers such as King Tubby and Lee Scratch Perry, Daktari produce a hybrid that is unique in the Australian (and in particular, Sydney) music market.
The approach Daktari has been taking over the last 3 years is to put the primary effort into the recordings, rather than to take every gig opportunity t
