I Can't Love You Anymore
The first song that we worked on was "I Can't Love You Anymore"~ I called Deena into the studio, just to see if she could sing on this song that I wrote. Well, I was blown away by her voice, and she loved what I was writing. It has been the start of a great eye to eye, heart to heart, musical relationship! "I Can't Love You Anymore" offers the listener SO many dimensions and musical elements, all working in harmony, yet placed just right. The song starts with a Carlos Santana-esh guitar solo, then drops you right into Deena's lush, soulful voice. The bridge in the middle of the song swells up to a glimmer of hope, with 16 tracks of orchestration backing her voice. It ends with the guitar crying it's strings right off in a sad, minor solo that "bookends" the song with the opening solo, then fades away. This is MY personal favorite, and it took FOREVER to arrange the strings, write the solos, and mix the whole song. Deena delivered a great vocal performance right from the very bottom of her heart, and soul!
