Victor Ruiz’s VOLTA imprint heads into 2024 in the same vein as it ended 2023, with an unrelenting flow of top-quality releases from a wealth of established artists and rising stars from around the globe. Coming in hot this February, Victor combines with Drumcode mainstay and championed Brazilian DJ/Producer Wehbba to forge their ‘Stand’ EP, delivering an evoking display of stadium-sized melodic-tinged weighty Techno.

The title cut ‘Stand’ brings chugging rhythms and blistering musicality from the outset. Laced with enveloping acid and modulating analogue elements from early on, its ebb and flow of gripping peaks and troughs filled with expansive soundscapes, hooking vocals and riveting crescendos are the perfect precursors to its several gritty, sawing synth lead-driven throwdowns that will have your hands up and heads down dancing with relative ease.

‘Silo’ completes the release with an appropriate amount of ‘boom’ throughout. Thumping kicks and subtle percussive drive lead the way along hollowed-out sub-bass and melancholic arps that expand further into the mix, giving rise to sharply rising synth lines and pulsating bass stabs. A progressively climbing roller with endless energy and loads of off-beat shuffle throughout, it perfectly caps off an impressive release from two of techno’s most renowned figureheads.
