Cecile
Cécile McLorin Salvant is a young French-American jazz vocalist.
She was awarded first place in the 2010 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Vocals Competition in which the final round was adjudicated by Patti Austin, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Kurt Elling, Al Jarreau and Dianne Reeves at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.
She is currently studying vocal and piano jazz [as well as lyrical voice] at the Music Conservatory of Aix-en-Provence, France, under the mentoring of Jean-François Bonnel recipient of the 1985 Clarinet Gold Medal and of the 2000 Sydney Bechet Jazz Academy Award.
Cécile is accompanied in this album by five great French musicians! Jean-François Bonnel (ts, cl), Jacques Schneck (p), Pierre Maingourd (b), Sylvain Glévarec (dr) and Enzo Mucci (g).
