Lady Avalon
When I decided to start the Lady Avalon project I wanted to do an album that focused purely on creativity
something that held no boundaries or limits
something different.
What evolved was something that became more than just a bunch of songs.
It started to evolve into this sort of concept album.
The title track, Lady Avalon is my interpretation based on various stories of King Arthur, The Sword in the Stone and the Lady of the Lake that I’ve come across.
This song is a story of love and rejection.
And then from this come these songs woven through out the CD that speak of the love and rejection that she endured. Reflections of all that she went through.
its a tapestry of frequencies that paint the picture of who She is.
Its a reflection of who I would be, if I was her.
Along with the songs that tell of Lady avalons story that you’ll hear through out the album there are also reflections of me. Songs Like Jupiter, which paints a picture of the place I grew up. The mountains that carved the deepest part of me. The foundation of who I am.
Luanne, a song I wrote for a dear friend of mine,
and wellington brakeman, The story of a trainwreck in the cascade mountains, I just found it interesting and wanted to write about it.
I wanted to go beyond the rules of how I am supposed to write
and just write.
just be creative, for creativities sake.
every song on the album is mine creation except one. Child of Steel by Rosanne Cash. This is a cover of one of my favorite songs and I wanted to record this because music is also a method in which we can let someone else speak to how we feel and who we are when we can’t find our own words. As artists we write for ourselves and we write for you.
