
Kavita
Kavita Prakash is a contemporary Bollywood artist. Born in Australia, and of Indo-Fijian origin, she has been performing for audiences in Melbourne for over a decade. Kavita’s singing career begun at the age of 6, with performing a devotional song at a cultural event. Brought up in a family of Brahman descent, Kavita has close ties with her spirituality. This has formed much of her inspiration in religious performances, and motivated her in the release of Om Namah Shiva, and Mangalam on the Album.
Growing up listening to artists such as Sunidhi Chahaun, Alka Yagnik, & Shreya Ghosal, Kavita has formed a close affiliation with the Bollywood music scene. This has influenced many of her tracks such as Mere Humsafar, Tum Se Hi and Pehle Pehel. After a fateful union with Tabla player, Aman Kalyan, Kavita’s love for Ghazals has grown. Artists such as Hari Haran, Jagjit Singh and Talat Aziz have inspired Kavita in her selection of the song, Kaise Sukoon for her Album.
