The Living Myth (Explicit)
One can argue pretty hotly on the "Key to Success". We all know that in different fields of work there are certain characteristics that keep you in that line of work. There are innate abilities that work in our subconscious to craft our place in history; for artists, that ability is creating harmony in their work, not just performing artists but visual arts as well. The world's most renowned artists have given us marvels such as the Sistine Chapel, the Eiffel Tower, and collections of oddities and rarities like the works of Basquiat.
Now I know you are wondering "where is this going? I thought this was about Rap and hip-hop Kreyol?" Hang tight and you will encounter somewhat of a mastermind! Part of creating harmony in art is being true to one's self and passion for making positive impacts globally. I don't know him personally but this demi-god has inspired a host of demi-gods. The first ever Rap Kreyol artist to brand the movement, through a philosophy, definitive lingo, a hot clothing line and several acting ventures, the only way to speak of him is to aligning his work with that of the classical greats. Best believe, when your children's children encounter Haitian history in the next century, his name will be among Toussaint and Boukman.
Bennchoumy Elien is this mastermind. Please ladies and gentlemen don't delve too deep without an open mind. Some refer to him as the Ching-Cheeng King and others as the Hardest Working Haitian, still others credit him as the H.N.I.C. - Head NEGUS in Charge. The Founder of the NEGUS movement, which has inspired many to disassociate themselves with the negative connotations of "nigger", is an artist in rare form on any given occasion. He is noted for impromptu freestyles that land him in the memories of the unsuspecting listener. He's played the field and promoted Kreyol Hip-Hop on the world's stage, winning titles in freestyle battles despite what some would purport as a handicap. He states it best himself, "Kreyol must be appreciated by all, especially those who have benefit from 1804. I don't do Kreyol - Kreyol does me. Kreyol loves me. I love it back by spitting 'Kreyol Hip Hop' to the world." Bennchoumy's innate ability to perform and freestyle spurred the successful run of the first ever gospel Kreyol Hip-Hop group, The Shepherdz. He has even starred in a full length film entitled "Selfish Love" which tackles the issue of domestic violence.
Rather than upholding the status quo and accepting the defeat forced on him by mainstream music and Haitians who refuse to legitimize the validity of Rap Kreyol as genre, Bennchoumy is the gadfly that spurs the movement as a leader; encouraging a new breed of thinker and portraying ardent musicianship. I strongly believe that Bennchoumy has found the key to unlock a multitude of successes not only for him but for the entire movement. His hard work has cultivated a steady stream of followers from all backgrounds and walks of life. The fans are grateful for music that actually captures the soul and invokes reverence. "In Haiti, Kreyol Hip-Hop has no choice but to be real, and it is. where abroad it's diluted with fakeness and wannabe(s)" - B.Elien. His music sounds great and is loaded with substance to provoke thought. Bennchoumy Elien paints melodic pictures with words and in the same token saturates his art form with harmonious attitudes and lessons.
Being the Hardest Working Haitian in the Hip-Hop Kreyol movement, Bennchoumy will be blessing you through “THE LIVING MYTH”
What is it exactly, that compels us to bob our heads, move our limbs, or throw a lighter to the sky? It is that vibe that travel from our eardrums, straight into our souls. The euphoria we feel as we move to the rhythm, entertained yes, but more so mentally elated. This is the formula that has created such artists as Bob Marley, and Tupac Shakur, the true legends of music, and authentic leaders in life. Bennchoumy is destined to be just that, a legend, a leader, a force in which to be reckoned.
We were first introduced to Bennchoumy (The Ching Cheeng King) by means of the Shepherdz, a gospel group consisting of himself and childhood friends Dr. Nicholas and Little Haiti. Back then, they were being compared to the Fugees, a wonderful accomplishment in itself. Today, as a solo artist, he is being referred to as the “Hardest Working Haitian” mention his name now to followers and fans
of Kreyol Hip Hop anywhere, and you will see heads nod in approval. Bennchoumy is constantly on the move, and always in the right direction. Persistently contributing something positive to the Hip Hop Movement, This artist never fails to deliver. His pure love for entertainment, and also for his country, fuels his drive, and thus propels his career. His latest endeavors includes a triumphant win at the Underground Hip Hop Battle “Go Hard or Go Home” This being a diverse competition, compiled of many different
artists, mostly English-speaking, makes this win all the more
significant.. Bennchoumy rose to the challenge and proved to the masses that Creole Hip Hop has a future in the music industry. Not only is he a phenomenal musician, Bennchoumy is also pursuing a career in acting. He plays the character Tony, the starring role in the Haitian Movie Selfish Love. This movie highlights the issues of domestic abuse, and the toll that it takes on those individuals caught within its grasp. It is not difficult to see that this is an artist who has broadened his spectrum on many creative levels, and will continue to do so in the future.
Music today lacks substance, as the years increase, we lose that vibe that connects us to a true artist. We can only fondly reminisce about the fallen Greats, as music for us becomes mundane. Well here is a breath of fresh air, a reason to stand up and take notice, to bob our heads, move our limbs, and throw that lighter to the sky. Here finally is a chance to be mentally elated, and spiritually enlightened, as the Ching Cheeng king enters your soul.
