SUBSTANCE


Shawn Anderson has grown up and lived his whole life in Port Huron, Michigan. He loved all styles of music when he was young, but had a deep love for the “Motown-inspired" hip-hop sound.

He is currently working on his debut CD "black market". He’s recording the entire project with ANDRE DOUCETTE at CHARTERHOUSE STUDIOS with the mixng being done by LEE HOFFMAN at ELITE STUDIOS. Production on the album from ASTRONOTE, ODDISEE, YOUNG BLAISE, KUYA, KELAKOVSKI, KOSYNE, DISTINCT ONE, AND CHYSTY.

“I plan to bring hip hop back with feeling, meaning, and substance. I concentrate on making music that is true to me and reflects my life and experiences - songs that people can often relate to as if I read their mind. “

SUBSTANCE (which is what we will be calling Shawn going forward) has a very creative style of writing/creating songs , the producers on "BLACK MARKET" incorporates such beautiful sounds. Sometimes you hear almost an entire string section of an orchestra, then it builds and goes right into rap. Very, very cool. He is not afraid to experiment with new sounds. It makes him unique in the hip hop world. But it’s not just that the producers experiments with sound, they know where it needs to be placed in the song – at the right time to be the most effective. That’s talent.


"BLACK MARKET" 1st single release will be titled "HUSSLIN" FEAT BOY PHRESH prod by chysty .His new song ”NOT 2 DAY" can also be found on his new CD, “BLACK MARKET”. This single is sending out a message loud and clear - “Message to anybody trying to keep me down, judge me, or hold me back , NOT 2 DAY”. This new CD will be out in OCTOBER 21ST of 2010.

This CD is very representative of who SUBSTANCE truly is as an artist. It captures the direction that he is taking in his life and in his music career.

He has performed at the Emerald Theater in Mt. Clemens in 2006 and also at The Metro Times Blowout in Hamtramck in 2006. And also beats eats and greets festival (sept 4th port huron,mi) and hollisterz bar (port huron , mi sept 12th)
