Mark Healey is a graduate of Full Sail School for the Recording Arts in Orlando, Florida, and continues to be involved in over 250 multi-media projects to date.

We've Got Badfinger's Bassist
Mark Healey releases solo album

Local musician and producer Mark Healey is more than the latest songwriter with an album out. Since 1986, Mark has played bass guitar for the internationally renowned rock band Badfinger, the group responsible for hits like Day After Day, Baby Blue, Suitcase, and a smattering of other singles (oh yeah, and The Beatles gave them their start).

Healey grew up in Madison and moved to Los Angeles in 1981. Badfinger’s original bassist died in 1983 and in 1986 they hosted auditions for a permanent replacement in Minneapolis, now Badfinger’s base of operations. Mark auditioned, was offered the position, and moved to Minneapolis sometime in 1987-1988.

In 2003 Mark moved back to Wisconsin in Durand, sorely missing his home state where he continues to play with the band and produce other music (including Brazilian folk metal group Tuatha de Danann).

Mark’s new album, Inside Out, speaks to his classic rock roots with pop and modern rock flavor crystals written over the last few years and recorded at his Minneapolis and Durand studios, with members of Badfinger as his backing band.

“Songs just kind of take on a life of their own,” Mark said, “after a while you’re the intermediate point between it and what it wants to be.”

Nothing’s for certain, yet, but Mark may be playing some local shows soon, which in turn means that Badfinger may be playing in Eau Claire! Find out more about Inside Out at planet9productions.com.
