Peace Is here
The Atmospheres live in the subtropical melting-pot of Byron Bay, a multi-cultural wonderland on the east coast of Australia, world-famous for its fabulous surfing beaches, rainforest retreats, laidback lifestyle and peace-loving inhabitants. It is also an amazing hotbed of creativity. Everyone is a musician, or a painter, writer, dancer, film-maker, healer, globetrotting personality, guru, or all of the above, often simultaneously. The Atmospheres fit this stereotype perfectly, and their songs reflect their surroundings.
Singer/songwriters Alok Atmo (acoustic guitar, tanpuri) and Anando Bharti (bass, dilruba) have been writing songs, recording, performing and travelling the world together since 2001, playing with many wonderful musicians and soaking up myriad influences along the way. They lived for years in India, and while their music is Western in form, it is permeated with the mystical vibrations of the East, incorporating Indian instruments such as dilruba, tabla, tanpuri and bansuri alongside acoustic and electric guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, didgeridoo and Afro-Latin percussive joy, creating celebratory folk rock with world dance grooves and a juicy spiritual edge. Sensuous vocals, poetry for the heart and uplifting arrangements bring a sense of balance and harmony to the listener.
Atmo and Bharti are accompanied live by master drummer Peter Leighton and electric guitarist extaordinaire John Sweeting. Every summer they tour Europe, playing at festivals and peace events, where they are joined by German drummer Veetam Dust, Guernsey keyboard wiz Veet Pramad, and Indian percussion maestro Ojas. The Atmospheres have performed in Australia, India, Taiwan, Mexico, Germany, Holland and Denmark. They have released two albums, 'Love Is Wild', and The Atmospheres new album, 'Peace Is Here'.
