Matthew Raetzel is an award-winning composer, arranger and producer, best known for his sweeping, emotionally driven orchestral works. Born and raised in the metro Detroit area, he began his life in music during his early teenage years, when he purchased a drum set. For nine years, he performed in rock and heavy metal groups, eventually taking greater interest in performing the electric guitar, vocals, and piano.

In 2008, Raetzel took interest in using his musical experiences in a new medium – film. He independently studied composition, orchestration, and recording production. He learned how to apply these findings within the art of film. He has since written original scores for 2 full-length features, 13 short films, 2 television pilots, 2 commercials and various Internet shorts and trailers. His work in film and TV has appeared in several media outlets and festivals, including the Hollywood Black Film Festival, Festival De Cannes, the 48-Hour Film Festival in Detroit, and the Syfy channel.
