Hello, BETTY!
Mike Thorne, the producer responsible for the Soft Cell classic, "Tainted Love", saw BETTY and realized the world needed to hear them as well. Sisters Amy and Elizabeth Ziff and their best friend Alyson Palmer were an incredible live act and performing on stages internationally, but in the five years they had been together, they had never recorded their gleeful mix of a'cappella / spoken word / drum machine rock and harmony-rich pop.
When they met Mike, it was time.
He brought in the Uptown Horns and added Synclavier to many of the tracks, endeavoring to capture the breathless, quick-witted, spontaneous excitement of a live BETTY show. He created an enduring classic.
Some of the songs have been heard on soundtracks, including "Flick That Thing", the long-running theme song for HBO's "Real Sex", "Echo" from HBO's first educational series for children, "Encyclopedia" and "Broken" from Eve Ensler's international smash, "The Vagina Monologues". The album track "Shrinkback" was featured on Showtime Television's "The L Word".
BETTY has been creating and performing since 1986 and recently released their 8th album, "Bright & Dark". They tour internationally and can be heard on stage, on television, on film soundtracks and on the radio in select markets. They are not to be missed live.
