NOTE-WORTHY ACCOMPLISHMENT

Tom Hynes has loved singing
all his life, but now the notes
will never fade away.
Hynes recently recorded and
produced a professional-caliber CD
titled “Until We Meet Again.”
Hynes, the advertising
director at the
Journal Inquirer,
began singing for
family and friends
at an early age,
toured with the
New York Glee
Club, sang in the
St. Bartholomew
Church Choir in
Manchester, and
performed with Manchester’s
renowned Silk City Chorus.
But it was actually a sad occasion that
made him get serious about his lifelong
dream of recording his voice for posterity.
“My mom was my greatest fan,” he
says, “and when she passed, the motivation
was there to dedicate and remember
her.
“The title of my CD is ‘Until We Meet
Again,’ from the lyrics of one of the
songs on the CD, ‘Irish Blessing.’ I sang
this song at her funeral, which was very
difficult. And ‘Until We Meet Again’ are
the words inscribed on her tombstone.
“I especially wanted my wife, Cindy,
and my daughter, Heather, to have these
special songs forever.”
Hynes says his first step in creating the
CD was song selection.
“Each and every song on this CD is
meaningful to a member of my family or
a very dear friend — a song that
was sung at a wedding, a milestone
birthday, or a funeral.
“Then you need to choose the
proper musicians for arrangements.
I was lucky in finding the right producer
as he is also a very good
friend. Michael Palermo understood
my goal and was a great coach.
“There were several sessions in
the studio which took place at The
Music Room in Wantaugh, N.Y.
“The first session is producing
and mixing the basic musical tracks.
Then once the tracks are all done,
you come back and you do the
vocals and overdubs.
“After that it is a series of mixing,
mastering and distribution.
“This was an independent endeavor,
and it took about a year to complete.”
Songs on the CD include: “My
Cherie,” “Irish Blessing,” “The Wonder
of You,” “Daddy’s Little Girl,” “Danny
Boy,” “Times of Your Life,” “When Irish
Eyes are Smiling,” “My Little Irish
Love,” and “The Very Thought of You.”
