Funkin Matt
Always on the hunt for new sounds, Funkin Matt has been producing and DJ’ing since his early teens. After being through most electronic styles he made the choice to pursue the house sound he’s known for today. Although residing in Oslo (Norway) it was natural for him to send his music abroad, to bigger electronic labels and DJ’s. His first release as Funkin Matt was then on Sidney Samson’s label Samsobeats, a 4-track EP which was supported by many of the top DJ’s in Europe. Later the same year he came in touch with Gregor Salto and made a remix of Bouncing Harbour which became a club hit and was part of starting a new sound in the Netherlands at that time. He then signed to Samsobeats for a long-term deal and regularly played parties in the Netherlands alongside producing new EP’s and remixes back home. \r Three years later with heaps of originals and remixes under his belt he launched Fjordin Records, and at the same time underwent a small style change from what had become the typical Dutch sound. His ever-evolving sound caught interest from many DJ’s and listeners around the world, gaining more momentum as time went with bookings abroad from not only the Netherlands but Germany and France as well. Seeing as his style seemed to be more and more popular in US as well, he sent his track “I Wish” over to tastemaker label Fool’s Gold. Fool’s Gold loved it, released it and the EP gained huge support from all around the world, making it the first of many Funkin Matt releases to come on Fool’s Gold. The same year he also released well received tracks like, Jaguar (Fjordin), Hymn Remix (Dim Mak), Toasty Nutty Bass (Fjordin) all of which got major support. \r 2013 started strong with Foxy feat. Gregor Salto on Mixmash, Colossus on Fjordin, an upcoming EP in the making for Fool’s Gold alongside remixes for A-Trak, Oliver, Tommie Sunshine & Disco Fries, Staygold, Maya Vik, Charlotte Qvale, Fiftheen and more. His tracks are already supported by big players like A-Trak, Laidback Luke, Tiesto, Nicky Romero, Tommy Trash to mention a few as well as being regularly played on radio around the world. \r 2013 marks a new milestone as Funkin Matt is gaining some serious momentum in the scene.
