Midland
Techno, house, and bass music, among many other strains ofunderground dance music, are all fair game for Harry Agius, the DJ andproducer who goes by Midland. Despite an evolving set of interests, none ofthe London-based artist's output -- all created with the intentto provoke an involuntary physical response -- has sounded like theresult of mere dabbling.Agius' renown as both a DJ and producer trulycoalesced in 2016.His wriggling and aching sample-based disco-funksingle "Final Credits" was ubiquitous during that year's summer festivalseason, and his BBC Essential Mix, broadcast in February, was awardedEssential Mix of the Year. Fabriclive 94, Agius'subsequent commercialmix, strengthened his reputation in 2017. He has focused more onDJing since then, though he has added Dua Lipa to his list of remixclients, and has also expanded the catalog of his long-running Gradedlabel with varied EPs such as The Alchemyof Circumstance (2022) andYou Never Take Me Dancing (2023).
