MATATABI (JPN): Born December 1990, the enigmatic Matatabi grew up listening to vast collections of obscure Underground Hip Hop records. In recent years he’s been active in Tokyo’s rapidly growing beat scene, appearing on the 3rd, 5th and 6th “EN Tokyo“ projects/events and Independent Beatcasting’s Magnetic’s #3 event. His great taste in Jazz, Hip Hop and Funk music makes for awesome live and recorded sets. Guest mixes he had done for websites like Beatnik Online and The Find Mag have been circulating around the internet to great response. Under the wing of DJ POSI, the analogue equipment only, STNR Events have provided Matatabi a platform to showcase some of the gems in his Vinyl collection. At party settings like this he’s able to train his ear for potential samples or blends for his regular recorded mixes and remixes. His personal equipment of choice are the turntables, SP-404 and an MPC1000.
